Donna Annand Melanoma Charity
C. I. Travel Group are delighted to announce our support for the Donna Annand Melanoma Charity, a local charity in Jersey aiming to highlight the dangers of malignant melanoma, and raise awareness of the disease, as well as offering education and advice as to how to remain safe in the sun.
As we prepare to welcome thousands of visitors to the Channel Islands during the summer months, it is important to remind our clients that the UV index here can be higher than other parts of the British Isles, and how important it is to protect your skin whilst enjoying the sunshine.
After 10 years as part of C. I. Travel Group, FlyDirect are excited to announce that this month we will be carrying our 25,000th passenger on a DIRECT holiday from the Channel Islands! As part of our celebrations we will be donating £2.50 for every passenger making a flight or holiday booking during the month of February to our nominated charity Donna Annand Melanoma Charity. Don’t forget to stay safe in the sun on your sunshine holiday this year! #applydontfry #mindyourmoles
About Donna Annand Melanoma Charity
The Donna Annand Melanoma Charity (DAMC) was formed in June 2011 in memory of Donna Annand who sadly passed away at just 29 years of age following a long and brave battle with stage IV malignant melanoma. Donna’s wish was that this disease be highlighted to allow the early detection and treatment of melanoma in order to improve survival prospects.
Entirely volunteer run, largely by family and friends of Donna, the main aims of DAMC are as follows;
To support, assist or help individuals suffering from melanoma
To support the families and carers of, and any other persons interested in, sufferers from melanoma
To undertake education and the dissemination of information in relation to melanoma generally
To establish and maintain mole clinics to assist in the early detection and prevention of melanoma
You can find further information regarding DAMC and their work at www.damc.co
Stay Safe In The Sun
Opt for a sun cream with a minimum SPF 30, apply generously and reapply regularly throughout the day.
Seek shade where possible, particularly during the middle hours of the day where the sun is at its strongest.
Where possible wear a hat to shade your face, scalp, ears and neck. If you have to be outside for long periods, wear a long sleeved shirt and long trousers along with your sun cream, to offer the best protection.
